·        Various aspects of storytelling for Prose, Short stories, Drama and a Novel.


PAPER II : THEORY - 2  


·        Theoretical aspect of Script Writing for:

        1        Drama – One Act Plays

        2        Radio – plays

·        Film studies – History, Theory & Criticism.

·        Basic concepts of Archeology.

·        “Myth” in Indian tradition:  -Elements of traditional dramatic form.

·        Writing for an audience/’slotting’/Marketing scripts.

·        Basic ethics of scriptwriting.

·        Basic concepts for legalities of Scriptwriting: Contracts, copy right and related aspects.


PAPER III : PRACTICAL - 1  


·        Observation of a location and writing a narrative.

·        Composing word pictures, listening to sound i.e. voice, effects & music.

·        Taking a one act play and writing a script for radio.

·        Developing a synopsis for five episodes of a TV Serial. 


PAPER IV : PRACTICAL - 2 


 

·        Taking a folk story and writing treatment for same for a short film.

·        Writing a script for a documentary.

·        Construct a script for already shot material for making a final programme.


PAPER V DAILY ASSIGNMENT/WORKSHOPS/SEMINARS


·        Writing a visual diary.

·        Characteristics of two famous Indian epics-Ramayana & Mahabharata.

·        Analysis of famous mythological characters (other than Indians).

·        Scripting of silent era and talkies in Indian Cinema.

·        Introduction to fantasy.

·        Salient features of Hindi & Urdu literature focused on Prose, Poetry, short stories & novel.

·        Indian traditional society, salient features of human psychology.

·        Salient features of ancient & medieval Indian culture.

·        Introduction to western psychology.

·        Indian aesthetics.

·        Film Appreciation.

·        Reading and critiquing fiction (Student will chose a story/full length novel and critiques it in terms of story-telling, style, language, etc.) 


PAPER VI PROJECT WORK


·        Developing a brief and writing a script treatment for assigned 30 sec. of TV Commercial.
